On the northern coast of Bahía Buen Suceso, the rocks are gray mudstones, approximately subhorizontal, interstratified with a slightly thicker facies of sandstones in smaller proportion, being able to observe the primary structure of cross stratification. Fracturing and shearing are common features. At the northern end of the bay, there are thick banks of gray sandy mudstones and thin black shale mantles.

To the south of the San Mauricio Cove, the sequence consists of fine, gray, lighter, or darker mudstones and sandstones interchangeably, with variable calcareous content and fossiliferous remains (Figs. 5.3 and 7.12), showing strong shear. Thin layers of fine sandstone of greenish-gray tones are interfingered with a silty–clayey facies. The rock contains some phtanitic nodules and calcareous lenses where bioturbation structures have been recognized.
